Tart of the week

Today’s tart of the week was chosen by a friend of mine, it’s almond tart, I attempted to follow the recipe but I used crème de framboise instead of grand mariner and I added ground almonds and flaked almonds on top of the tarts, to make them prettier!

Ingredients:
Short crust pastry
150g flaked almonds
150g sugar
500ml crème fraiche
1 tbsp. Grand-Marnier

Ingrédients :
La pâte sablée
150g d’amandes effilées
150g de sucre
50cl de crème fraiche
1 c. soupe de grand-marnier

Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
Butter a tart dish and spread over the pastry.
Mix together the crème fraiche, sugar, almonds and grand-marnier and pour into the pastry.
Cook for 30 minutes.

Tart of the Week!

Les tartelettes aux fraises!

I have never made these before either…the pastry went a little wrong I didn’t have baking beans to put in them and I didn’t take into account the shrinking of the pastry. But they look delicious and taste just as good! The strawberries I used are from Plougastel which is a town famous for them in Brittany.

The ingredients are:
Pastry
Crème patisserie:
1 cup of whole milk
1 egg
40 ml of flour
4tsps of sugar
Half tbsp. of vanilla
And lots of strawberries!

Les ingredients sont:

La pate
Crème pâtissière:
1 coup du lait entier
un oeuf

40ml de farine
4 c. café de sucre
½ c. soupe de vanille
Et un tas des fraises !

Cook the pastry for around 10 – 15 minutes; unfortunately I didn’t pay attention to the length of time mine were in for, so just judge by your oven and the size and thickness of the pastry.
Heat the milk in a pan over medium heat.
Beat together the eggs, sugar, vanilla and flour in a bowl.
Mix the milk in with the egg mixture then replace over the heat until the mixture thickens. Leave to cool.
Fill the pastry cases with crème patisserie and cover with whole hulled strawberries.

This recipe was adapted from France Monthly...I halved the recipe to make tartlets.
